AFSCME Local 449 (American Federation of  State County and Municipal Employees) located in Tucson, has two internship positions available.

AFSCME is the nation’s largest and fastest growing public services employees union with more than 1.6 million active and retired members. AFSCME’s members provide the vital services that make America happen. We are nurses, bus drivers, student services specialists, custodians, sanitation workers and more. AFSCME Local 449 is a union comprised of a diverse group of people who share a common commitment to public service. AFSCME Local 449 represents members in six divisions that include: El Rio Community Health Center, City of Tucson, Pima Community College, Tucson Unified School District (TUSD), Pima County and PimaCare at Home. We not only stand for fairness at the bargaining table — we fight for fairness in our communities and in the halls of government.

Hours are flexible and based upon availability of intern. Bilingual, Spanish speaking a plus. This is an unpaid internship however; this is a valuable work experience for those interested in future paid positions in the labor movement.
