AFSCME women make up close to 60% of the union’s membership and are leading the charge to create change for working families. The AFSCME Women’s Leadership program aims to prepare and develop women to be strong leaders and activists in their locals and councils. Signature programs include the AFSCME Women’s Leadership Academy Online and the AFSCME Women’s Leadership Academy Train-the-Trainer program for councils and affiliates. The Academy is designed for all AFSCME women and provides a deeper understanding of the issues that affect working women, strengthens leadership skills and activism and motivates AFSCME women to be leaders in their workplaces and local unions.
